Carty & Co. is committed to protecting your privacy and confidentiality. We understand the importance of your privacy and will take the utmost care to ensure that the information you give to us remains private, confidential and used solely for the purpose you intended.


Our Privacy Policy has been developed in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended) in Australia and outlines how we manage your personal information. 


Personal Information


Personal information means information or an opinion about you. It may range from very sensitive information (e.g. medical history) to the more common (e.g. your address and phone number). It includes all information obtained and required as part of the recruitment process to facilitate your potential and actual job placements which includes your contact details, residency, work experience, qualifications, salary, psychometric test results, criminal history checks and opinions about your work performance (e.g. reference checks). 


Sensitive Information


Sensitive information is a special category of personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988. It is information or an opinion about you that includes your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious beliefs, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual orientation or practices or criminal record. As per the Australian Privacy Act 1988, in most cases, we will only collect or disclose sensitive information with your explicit consent.


Collection of Personal Information 


In general we collect your personal information from you. That may be in person, in writing, by interview, video conference, email, text message or phone call.


We collect and use personal information for the purpose of which it was intended (and other related purposes) unless permitted or required by law. The information we collect is required for us to reasonably perform our recruitment duties at Carty & Co. to facilitate job placements. If you do not provide us with the information we require, provided the information is reasonable and relevant to the services provided to or for you, we may not be able to assist you.


We also collect your personal information from third parties and will usually require you to provide consent to enable us to obtain it. This can include psychometric test results, reference checks, pre-employment checks, educations institutions, professional associations and past employers.


Disclosure of Personal Information


For the purposes referred to in this policy, we may disclose your personal information to prospective employers, referees, past employers, educational institutions, clients and other company professional advisors including accountants, auditors and lawyers. 


Unless permitted or required by law to do so, we will not share, sell or disclose any of your personal information without your consent or use it for any purpose which is not related to the services we provide or in a way that you would reasonably expect it to be used. 


We will only disclose your sensitive information for the purposes for which it was initially collected (including directly related purposes) unless consent is provided. 


Accuracy of Personal Information


Carty & Co. takes reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold about you is accurate. We may contact you from time to time to check that the information is still up to date. Please let us know if your details have changed by emailing admin@cartyco.com.au and we will update our records. 


Security of Personal Information


Carty & Co. holds personal information in secure computer storage facilities and devices that is restricted to authorised employees that need to access the information to perform their duties. We hold your personal information for as long as is necessary for us to provide recruitment services and career planning. We will appropriately dispose of your personal information when it is no longer required or if you ask it to be removed.
